Relaxing at the beach after a day of digging.

A few unwanted guests....

Happy Birthday Mary!

Spent the day at Xcaret to celebrate Mary's 21st Birthday!   Brian and Nina joined us.

Managed to convince mom and dad to float down an underground river for about an hour.

Fun Day!

Internet!

Internet installed at the rental house today.  Good to be back in communication again.

Lot clearing almost complete. Driveway fill arrives in the morning.  Getting quotes from local builders, so should be able to get going immediately.

Found an awesome restaurant on the beach today.  No menu, just fish, lobster, shrimp and ceviche.  Food was incredible.  scenery amazing.

Dad had road meat yesterday(Shrimp from a roadside restaurant) and survived, much to his disbelief.

Lot before clearing:

Our first snake friend.....departed...thanks to lot clearing guys.

After Clearing

LUNCH!

Anyone recognize this guy?

Arrived!

Arrived safely on the 15th.

Getting settled in jungle house.

Day 13 - Campeche.

Long driving day. Some poor condition roads. Except for today the roads have been excellent.

Made it to Campeche, another history rich city. Beautiful historic sector, clean and friendly.

Short drive tomorrow and we have reached our destination!

Day 12- Veracruz -Boca del Rio

On the road again. Made it to Boca del Rio, just outside of Veracruz on the Gulf Coast.

Incredible mix of scenery today. Mountains, valleys, rivers and farmlands.

Heavy highway tolls today.

Day 11 - Touring San Miguel de Allende

Spent the day touring San Miguel de Allende.  Old buildings, churches, art studios, cafes, pool........

Beautiful city.  Very clean and friendly.

Day started out cool but well into upper twenties now.

On the road again tomorrow.

Just got word that the road is cleared to our property!

Day 10 - San Miguel de Allende

7 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende.  Lunch at PEMEX truck stop. Incredible services......have never seen anything as good or on such a large scale in US or Canada.  They treat truck drivers like VIPs.

San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful city. Staying in nice old ranch hotel on the hill above the city.  Huge sprawling grounds with beautiful buildings and gardens.  A step up from last night!

High temperature today was 28 C. Still cool overnight.

Day 9 - Trailer repair and into Mexico

Trailer fixed!

It only took a few hours and $171!....and that was for both springs to be replaced.

Made it into Mexico at about 1pm.  Two hours to get searched several times and complete paperwork.  Then got searched again about 30k into Mexico.  All in all not too bad.  Made it to Salltllio, just past Monterrey.  Seedy hotel but clean and secure parking for the trailer.

Highways are great....sticking to the toll roads, so good conditions and services all the way through Mexico so far.

Temperatures ranged from -2 in San Antonio to +25 C by the end of the day.

Tomorrow we will be in San Miguel Allende.  Spending a couple of nights there before we move on.  Should have some good pictures from there.

Still pretty much on schedule despite the trailer problem.

Day 8 - San Antonio & The Alamo

More touring today.  Riverwalk, market square and the Alamo.

Lunch on the river.

Discovered that we snapped a spring on the trailer and didn't notice it yesterday. That may put us behind by a day as we could not find anyone to repair on a Sunday.  Hopefully we can get it fixed first thing in the morning.

Glad we noticed it now and not in the middle of nowhere!
